Fulfillment, unboxing, and playthrough of Space Race! 🚀

Hello astronauts,

In this month's mission briefing I got very interesting news for you, so let's not waste any time and check them out!

Assembly and fulfillment news

The assembly process has finished last week. After it finished, we immediately shipped a couple of copies our way for a check, and let's be frank to play!  Now, we are in the process of arranging fulfillment, so once a batch for each fulfillment center is ready we send it their way. We are using these fulfillment companies:

•  EU: Aimplify (for CZ: PostKomplet)
•  UK: GamesQuest
•  US: Quartermaster Logistics
•  Canada: InterFulfillment
•  Asia and Australia: VFI

Games for the EU are already on their way, so you can expect your copies pretty soon. If you'd require a sudden change of address in the EU, please wait until you receive an email from the fulfillment center where you will be able to confirm your address. US and RotW are still scheduled to deliver in April.

Unboxing of Space Race

As I promised before, we prepared an unboxing of Space Race for you! You can watch it here if you do not want to spoil yourself with the surprise of unboxing.

 Let me know how you liked the unboxing and if you'd like to see more videos like this in the future! We had to opt for a voice-over since there was construction happening below us. Any feedback is welcome :)

Gaming Rules playthrough

Tune in tomorrow (Friday, March 19th) at 8pm GMT for Paul Grogan's playthrough of Space Race. He'll be doing a solo playthrough, so let's wish him all the luck! I'll be in the chat watching and answering any questions that you might ask. Just click on the notification to remind you when it is live.

If you don't want to watch any playthroughs or how-to-plays and want to just read the rulebook, then you can do so here. We have community translations for Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, and Spanish - thank you once again to all the volunteers!

How to sort Space Race and photos

We have prepared a handy guide for you that will help you with sorting Space Race back into its box. Each component has its own place in the box. Since the Mission tiles are not rectangular-shaped, the insert is molded to fit them upside down. So if you have any troubles with fitting them in, remember that you can just flip them.

And don't worry, we have also prepared the guide for all of the sleevers out there. Here is Space Race sleeved with Percival's from Paladin. You can divide all of the cards (250 of them) between the two cards slots, just rotate them 90°.

Play Space Race on TTS, assembly, and more!

The latest mission briefing is here! The assembly is starting this week, so you can expect your copy of Space Race pretty soon - but if you are eager to play it already, we have a solution for you.

Space Race assemble!

Plastic components and astronauts have safely arrived at FabrykaKart on Monday and the process of assembly has already started. The plan is to have it finalized as soon as possible (by the end of the next week). After that, the games will go straight to the respective fulfillment centers and then to you.

As per the updated timeline, in the EU, we are on track to deliver in March, and the US/RotW in April. The final addresses will be locked at the end of the next week (March 7th), so in case you need a sudden change of address you can do so directly in BackerKit or you can send us a message.

Space Race on TTS!

We are very excited about this one because it is a premiere for us - you can play Space Race on Tabletop Simulator! There are already over 200 subscribers, whoo! So, if you want to try/learn the game before you get it, now is the perfect time to jump in.

PnP kit is here

We have updated the work-in-progress print and play files with new ones and also added the STL files for the rockets! If you are interested in checking it out you can do so here.

And of course, if you decide to do your own homebrew version, send us some pictures, so we can see your creations. :)

Playthrough incoming

There is a preliminary date for Paul Grogan’s playthrough of Space Race - you can set your reminders for Friday, March 19th. We are looking forward to Paul’s playthrough and hope that you are too! :) If the date changes we'll let you know.

And we will also have a how-to-play video from Branislav of the Nithrania channel if you don’t want to read the rulebook (but we suggest you do because we are pretty proud of that one).

And that’s it for this update! We can’t wait to have the final copies in our hands soon. We have installed a rail system for photography in our office (right above my head!) so you can look forward to seeing some photos of Space Race in all its glory.

Vote for Space Race

Space race has been a monumental project for us and we are excited to have it in our hands soon! It would mean the world to us if you honored Space Race with your vote.

We have been nominated in these categories: solitaire, sci-fi, miniatures. You can also add additional categories in the comments underneath the geeklist entry. Every new category will be accepted by having 5 thumbs up - there is already the repeat category, which you can thumbs up too :)

Updated Delivery Timeline

Hi everyone,

This month we have a quick mission briefing prepared for you.

•  Production status - The rockets are sailing
•  Updated timeline - When you get your games
•  Address changes - How can I change my address

Production status

Our manufacturer LongPack will be loading the plastic components onto the ship soon. They will be on their way to Poland (FabrykaKart), where they will be assembled and prepared for you. Everything is already produced, so the final steps will be quick.

Updated timeline

Currently, the plastic components are scheduled to arrive in Poland in the middle of February - the boat will take the plastic components into Hamburg and from there the container will be sent to FabrykaKart. You can track the boat's voyage here. After that, FabrykaKart will immediately start the assembly process. Then the games will be sent to fulfillment centers around the world.

The updated timeline of the deliveries of the games to you is the following:

EU: 03/2021

USA: 04/2021

RotW: 04/2021

Once FabrykaKart assembles the games, we are going to start working with Paul Grogan of Gaming Rules! on the tutorial playthrough and prepare an unboxing video for you.

Address changes

If you want to change your address, there is still some time - just send us an email at [email protected] and we’ll look into that.

Arecibo Observatory

As some of you already know, last month on November 19 The National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced that the Arecibo Observatory was severely damaged beyond repairs. 

In honor of this majestic construction, which was the largest single-aperture telescope until it was surpassed in 2016, you can download the full-sized artwork from Space Race.

Production status of the the plastic

Hello everyone,

This month's mission briefing is here! Let's take a look at how the production is going and other news!

Production status

As we have informed you in the previous update, the printed components are finished. Here you can see a throwback to how Marek (art director) and Pavel (graphic designer) tested the colors of the Control cards. Since they wanted to have it on the mind all the time, they taped one of the Control cards to the dashboard of their car. As they drove between the factories during the day, they spent a lot of time with the card (and drank a lot of coffee). After several hours they came to the conclusion that the final colors were perfect!

Now, we are just waiting for LongPack (our plastic manufacturer) to load the rockets and trays onto the ship in China. There is a delay regarding the packing of the rockets. After devising a safe plan for the delivery to Poland, the manufacturer (LongPack) started to worry about the delivery of the trays in such quantity. Therefore, we had to start over the process of packaging for the rockets and astronauts resulting in a delay. Now, the rockets will have even better travels across the sea.

Once the components arrive in Poland, Fabryka Kart (our paper and cardboard manufacturer) will assemble all of the copies and get them ready for you. Then the games will head to the fulfillment centers around the world.

The delivery of the plastic pieces (rockets and trays) from our manufacturer (LongPack) produced delays which we did not anticipate, therefore we'll not be able to send you the copies as stated before. We are sorry about the delays, and we'll be able to tell you more details regarding the updated timeline very soon. As soon as we know the dates when the plastic is loaded, we'll be able to book all the ships and start the fulfillment process.

Last calls for late pledges and address changes

The late pledge option will be available until the end of the year - December 31st. If you still have someone who is interested in Space Race, then get them on board. You can get it here.

If you are moving soon, don’t worry. You’ll be able to change your address until we have a date when fulfillment centers will get the copies.

Other news

The translation process is in full operation and the teams are working hard to bring you the best experience. Currently, we have volunteers for these languages: Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Hungarian, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Spanish, and Thai. Truly a great roster!

We heard your calls about print-and-play kits and digital implementations of the game. We are looking into these possibilities and options - if you have a strong contender where you’d like to see Space Race, let us know :)

And that’s it for this update. We’ll inform you next month about the deliveries of plastic and the assembly. Perhaps, we’ll see an unboxing video?
